Diachroic Glass Films

So you love the look of coloured window glass, but you don’t want to change your actual windows. In that case, allow us to introduce you to dichroic window film!

As an extremely captivating style of window film, dichroic film mimics the same effects found in dichroic glass. Our window films will sit completely flat against your glass, giving you a dazzling array of colours and patterns to choose from.

By using a dichroic window film, your chosen glass or window effect can be applied or removed as it suits, allowing you to gain privacy and style in one easy move.

dichroic window films are based on dichroic glass. Also known as living glass or rainbow glass, dichroic glass gives an iridescent colour effect and has semi-transparent properties. In other words, dichroic glass and the effects found in our window films are colour-changing. Specifically, the colours of the window film will change depending on your position in the room.

The word ‘dichroic’ actually originates from the Greek words for two (di) and colour (chroma).

Just like with the real glass, several colours can be found within any dichroic window film style creating an optical spectacle that packs in plenty of personality.

A Cost Effective Solution to Diachroic Glass

Dichroic glass is easy enough to find for the likes of jewellery and crafts. However, actual dichroic window glass isn’t readily available, and where it is, it tends to be extremely expensive.

But with our dichroic window film, you can get the exact multi-coloured, iridescent look you crave for your window or surface glass with ease.

Dichroic glass is costly to produce because getting the colour-changing effects involves a challenging process. Namely, the use of quartz crystal and metal oxides, which are vaporised with an electric beam. In addition, only a small number of dichroic glass manufacturers exist.

However, when you opt for window film instead, you can still achieve those same colour-changing effects (and even other special effects such as glitter!) all without the expense. In fact, you don’t even have to replace your windows either, which further reduces the cost.
